Course arrangement

The goal of the school's curriculum is to design school-based curriculum based on the appropriate development of children. We focus on learning in games, and will design appropriate activities according to children's individual abilities and needs. Among them, "theme teaching" and "design activities" are used to cooperate with each other, and diversified comprehensive activities are used to induce children's learning motivation, so that children can participate in it, so as to cultivate the spirit of active exploration and learning. Establish children's ability to think, judge and solve problems, learn to work with others, and enjoy the fun of learning. In addition, we use computers and various information technologies as learning media for children to enable them to experience technological life from an early age, so that children can learn from the latest and most ideal teaching methods, the most appropriate courses and the most pleasant learning environment. Establish lifelong learning ideas, and lay a good foundation for future growth and learning.

Picture Book Making

We not only use picture books as teaching aids, but also invite our students to create their own little books as part of our holistic child-centered teaching approach. The children design, draw and write their own book, which acts as a channel for them to express their thoughts, feelings and imagination. We use show and tell activities to help the children to gain self-esteem and learn to respect their own and others’ expression and thoughts. Additionally, we hope to stimulate our students’ creativity and let them integrate their own life experiences into their creations.

Loving Angels Award Program

Our school is a long-term participant in the Loving Angels Award Program, organized by the Association Of Hong Kong Kindergarten Education Professional Exchange (HKKGEPE). Through activities such as ‘Courtesy Ambassador’, ‘I am the Big Brother and Sister’, ‘Classroom Team Leader’ and ‘Cleaning Team’, we deliver a message of care and foster values of ‘love yourself, love your family, love your friends and love your school’ among the children.

Teaching Good Values

In 2014, we started using the Invitational Education theory (IE) to facilitate a caring culture at school. Through regular activities, sharing sessions and thematic guidance, we teach the children to be positive, respectful and trusting. We instill positive moral values such as treasuring life, respecting others and cherishing resources so our students can establish healthy interpersonal relationships and positive interactions with society and nature, as well as developing their cognitive ability, emotions, ethical sense and personality in a balanced manner.

Artistic Development

We take a proactive approach in developing our students’ aesthetic abilities. We provide  rich environment with diverse art materials so our students can experience a range of artistic elements such as shapes, colours, spaces and textures. We broaden our students’ horizons so they can learn to appreciate different forms of art in their daily life experience. We also guide our students to explore art and learn to respect their own and others’ artwork through collaborative creative projects.

Kindergarten-Primary School Bridging Course

We offer the parents of K3 students the opportunity to visit Lok Sin Tong primary school campuses so they can be well-prepared for their children’s transition to primary school. Meanwhile, our parent seminars provide helpful information about how to choose a primary school.

English courses

We incorporate English in our daily learning activities, so that our students can learn the language in a natural environment at the early developmental stages of language acquisition. For example, we let the children chat with a Native English Teacher during free play time. This natural and relaxed learning environment encourages our students to learn and practice English spontaneously.

Our daily English classes are led by Native English Teachers who design and teach lessons that are interesting to the students and relevant to their daily lives. We have a wide range of activities such as storytelling, phonics, singing, games and creative activities to help build our students’ skills and expression.

Learning Through Play

Our school is part of the Education Bureau’s School-Based Support Scheme for ‘Learning Through Play’, following the bureau’s 2017 Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide in which they advocated the practice. Our teachers are trained to incorporate ‘Free Play’ as part of the curriculum. Students of all age groups enjoy a high level of autonomy and the freedom to make decisions about various activities, enabling them to learn through interaction and games. This practice provides a safe and free environment for our students to satisfy their curiosity.

Our students are given ample opportunity to participate in and adapt to social activities. This rich social experience facilitates their physical growth and mental health.

Balance Bike Training

Our school values our students’ all-round development, including their physical and mental health. We give our students a first taste of sports by riding balance bikes, helping them to build confidence and independence and realise their potential. The balance bike helps to develop the children’s vestibular system, core balance and stability, leg muscles and limb coordination, all of which are critical in a child’s physical development.

Teacher professional development and training

Our teachers mentor the children in their care, using their professional knowledge to enhance the students’ physical and mental development. Thus, all of the teachers in our school met the qualification requirements of the Education Bureau and have a rich educational background. We teach children with love and patience. Our principal encourages teachers to pursue further study, so they have the opportunity and motivation to continue their lifelong learning.

Teachers are a valuable resource for our school, and we regard teacher training as indispensable. To enhance our teachers’ professional skills and development, we are committed to implementing learning programs such as lectures and workshops so our teachers can learn through practice and communication. Our teachers can enhance their skills not only through their own study but also through sharing their knowledge and experience with each other, so they will be fully prepared to cater to our students' needs.

Free Play

‘Free Play’ is an educational approach that values and protects the happiness of natural childhood experience. We use Free Play in our physical education curriculum, using open-ended and self-determined play as the primary learning experience for our students. We supply apparatus such as hula hoops, beanbags, traffic cones and bouncy balls for our children to make use of with minimal teacher intervention in a safe environment. Our students are then able to use these materials to follow their own interests and self-direct their play. We find that children enjoy the high degree of autonomy this style of play affords, and they learn to work together to solve problems. Our students’ problem-solving and social skills are consolidated as they learn to share play materials and help each other out.
